| Generic Zoloft Zoloft or Sertaline(generic name) is an antidepressant medication.Generic Zoloft is from group of drugs known as serotonin reuptake inhibitors i.e. SSRIs. It works by treating unbalanced chemicals present in the brain which may become the cause for depression and other stress related diseases. Zoloft also treats patients suffering from panic, anxiety, obsessive compulsive symptoms, post traumatic stress disorder and premenstrual dysphoric disorder in adults over the age of 18. Children suffering from obsessive compulsive disorder and in the age group of 6-17 can be treated with this medication. Zoloft can also be used in treatment of other medical conditions not listed above. The result shown by this medication can be different for every person. In some cases the results can be seen within couple of weeks into the treatment and in some cases it might a bit more time. DO NOT stop taking Zoloft if you don’t feel better right away. You are advised to continue taking Zoloft as directed and wait for a while to experience the desired changes. The length of zoloft treatment can be different for each individual. It is advised that the medication should be taken for six months to one year to prevent the symptoms from recurring. You doctor or medical care provider can decide how long you should continue taking zoloft. You might feel better during the initial weeks of treatment, it is very important to continue taking zoloft at that time. DO NOT stop taking zoloft without consulting with your doctor. |
